Birth of CMU Chamber Strings

It is my pleasure to announce that CMU Chamber Strings is officially established. This string ensemble is dedicated to performing a wide range of chamber works from the classical repertoire to new music written for string ensemble. Consisting of both CMU string faculty and students, this ensemble provides students exposure to the broad chamber music literature as well as opportunities to collaborate with string faculty through various performances.

Our debut concert is coming up on Sunday, March 30, 2014. The program includes Mendelssohn’s Octet and Dvorak’s “Dumky” piano trio. This concert features Dr. Fangye Sun (violin), Dr. David Holland (viola), Dr. Jaime First (cello), Kelly VanderMolen (violin), Andrew Hatfield (violin), Alexandria Midcalf (violin), Mikaela Versluis (viola), Yanidi Konstantin (cello), and Yaqin Wang (piano).
